This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is collected when you visit gothicgardenwitch.com or sign up for my emails, why it is collected, and what rights you have. I have tried to keep it short and readable.
Who is responsible for your data
Gothic Garden Witch is a personal blog run by Erika Juhász, Hungary. I am the data controller for the personal data described here.

What I collect and why
Email list and free downloads
When you sign up for a free resource (such as the Dark Feminine Zodiac Shadow Workbook) or my emails, I collect your first name, your email address, and a record of your consent (the date, time, signup form and IP address). I use this to send you what you asked for, plus occasional emails with zodiac insights and new posts.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Service used: MailerLite (UAB “MailerLite”, Lithuania, EU), which stores the list and sends the emails.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, I may keep a minimal record that you opted out, so you are not added again by mistake.
- Email statistics: MailerLite tells me whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. I use this only to see which content is useful.
Spam protection on the signup form
The signup form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block bots. reCAPTCHA may collect device and usage information (for example your IP address and how you interact with the page) and send it to Google. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the list free of fake signups (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Website statistics
I use Google Analytics (through the Site Kit by Google plugin) to understand which posts people read and where visitors come from, for example Pinterest or Google Search. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects pseudonymous data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type. I cannot see who you are from this data. Where the law requires it, these cookies are only used with your consent.
Saving and sharing posts
The site uses Grow (by Mediavine) for features that let you save and share posts. Grow may use cookies or local storage to remember your saved posts and, if you create a Grow account, processes the data you give to Grow under its own privacy policy.
Security and hosting
Like every website, the server records technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. The Wordfence security plugin uses this data to block attacks and spam. Legal basis: my legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). These logs are kept only for a limited time and are not used to identify visitors.
Fonts and profile images
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and may show profile images from Gravatar. To deliver these, your browser connects to Google’s or Gravatar’s servers, which receive your IP address.
If you email me
If you write to me, I use your email address and message only to reply. I delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This site uses:
- Necessary cookies for security and basic site functions.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics (see above).
- Feature cookies from Grow and from reCAPTCHA on the signup form.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
Who receives your data
I do not sell your personal data. I share it only with the service providers named above (MailerLite, Google, Mediavine/Grow, my web hosting provider and Wordfence), who process it to provide their service. Some of them, such as Google, may process data outside the EU, including in the United States. In those cases transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data I hold about you,
- have it corrected or deleted,
- restrict or object to its processing,
- receive it in a portable format,
- withdraw your consent at any time (for emails, simply click “unsubscribe”), without affecting processing before the withdrawal.
To use any of these rights, email me at hello@gothicgardenwitch.com. I will reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Hungary this is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH, naih.hu), or you can contact the authority in your own country.
For visitors in the United States
I do not sell personal information, and I do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you live in California or another U.S. state with a privacy law, you can ask what personal information I hold about you and ask me to delete it by emailing me at the address above. I will not treat you differently for making such a request.
Children
This blog is written for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact me and I will delete the data.
Links to other websites
Posts may link to other websites, such as Pinterest. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and I am not responsible for how they handle your data.
Changes to this policy
I will update this page when the way I handle data changes, for example if I start showing ads. The date at the top shows the latest version.
